#GHFoods' Nineteen Favorite Memories from 2019


2019 has been a very busy year for the Gourmet Hemp Foods team. These nineteen moments truly capture what we're all about.

Between partnerships, activism, and manufacturing hemp-based foods, we take our mission to 'Awaken the World to the Benefits of Hemp' very seriously! 

But no matter how much we stress that each and every bottle of sauce and bag of pasta is made to perfection ( each and every time ) we always find a way to have fun! That's what it's all about. 

We hope you enjoy reviewing our 2019 as much as we enjoyed living it!


1) Attending The NC Farm Show

We had an awesome time with East Coast Hemp Supply at the North Carolina State Fairground for a farm show! You can visit East Coast Hemp Supply in Dunn North Carolina to pick up our sauces and pastas!

2) Working with Carlos with Signarama

We are proud to source not only American-made glass bottles locally, but our labels too! A huge thanks to Carlos with Signorama who makes sure all our labels are printed to perfection ensuring they pop-off on the shelf!


3) Visting Browntown Farms Est. 1906

Over the summer the team visited Browntown Farms in Warfield Virginia. Herb and his father showed us around their several acre farm, their plots of hemp, and invited us to pick some of the peppers we used in making our Hemp Hottie sauce. 


4) Trekking to Asheville

North Carolina Hemp Company has an amazing location in the heart of beautiful Asheville. If you're making a visit to this tourist destination this is a must-stop location.

5) Attending the FDA Public Hearing

Co-CEOs Rob and Joe attended the public hearing the FDA hosted on May 30th which focused on issues surrounding Cannabis, primarily, hemp-derived extracts. Approximately ninety stakeholders within the cannabis industry shared their opinions for and/or against cannabis regulations.

6) Learning How Hemp Seeds are Processed

We learned fhow our hemp seeds are pressed and pelletized. The cold-pressed hemp seed oil is used in our sauces and the hemp pellets are finely ground into a protein powder which is added to our pasta products. 


7) Transaction with VA's 1st Hemp Farmer

Joe makes a deal with Glen Rodes, the first licensed hemp farmer in Virginia. Glen grew hemp as an experimental crop in 2014 and has grown hemp every year since. 


8) Philadelphia & Lancaster Food Shows

A huge thanks to both Tye & Reggie Hall's sons for helping us prepare and execute both our food shows that we had in Pennsylvania in November.


9) Sampling at Ellwood Thompson's

Rob Ujevic serves up our world-famous cold hempasta salad using our fusilli style noodles. Ellwood Thompson visitors can discover all of our products in aisle three!

10) Making Political Headway

Being proud members of the Virginia Industrial Hemp Coalition for several years, we're excited to see political heavy-weights finally jump on the hemp bandwagon for jobs and prosperity! Moreover, the Gourmet Hemp Foods team was honored to showcase our Hempasta products at the Governor's hemp bill signing at VSU's Randolph Farms in July of 2019. 




11) Education with Denise Foster

We learned a lot at Ellwood Thompson's community room with cannabis nurse  Denise Foster. Denise presented an excellent powerpoint that thoroughly explained how 'The Endocannabinoid System' affects every aspect of our bodies.

12) Chef Tye Wins Culinary Fight Club Richmond

Chef Tye and her team knocked-out the competition during Richmond's first ever 'Culinary Fight Club.' Her winning dish was her seafood bisque soup that was second to none!


13) Making Friends at Carytown Farmers Market

Most Sundays over the summer we enjoyed hanging out with all the great vendors and visitors at the Carytown Farmers Market which takes place at City Stadium. 



14) Making Sauce at Hatch Kitchen

We're proud to be one of the first members at Hatch Kitchen and are extremely fortunate to have an FDA-approved facility with the necessary equipment to make all our amazing hemp-based sauces!



15) Celebrating The Market @ 25th Grand Opening

We're excited to announce that Market @ 25th will be selling our entire product line starting in 2020!

16) Hemp & Hops Festival at Licking Hole Creek

We had a ton of fun at the beautiful farm brewery, Licking Hole Creek, when they hosted their first ever Hemp & Hops Festival. Attendees got to hear from hemp farmers and entrepreneurs first-hand, as well as, had an opportunity to enjoy Tye & Reggie's delicious Hemp Hottie tacos.

17) Living the Daily Grind

Everday is a new adventure! We're excited to see what 2020 has in store for us!


18) Remembering Our Partner 'GEO' Ogburn

On December 23rd we lost a dear friend, business partner, and hemp advocate. George Ogburn had a dream to restore Southern Virginia's economy with hemp and we plane to continue his work! 


19) 3rd Annual VSU Hemp Field Day

VSU's third field day was another huge success. Four hundred attendees decended on campus to hear notable speakers like hemp-lobbyist Eric Steenstra and female hemp entrepreneur Katie Moyer. After the speaker presentations all the attendees had a n opportunity to walk the hemp research field at VSU's Randolph Farms Agriculture Research Center.
