August 26, 2020

What makes hemp such an intriguing super food is it's multiple positive attributes. It is an excellent nutrient that promotes human vitality, especially due to its unsaturated fatty acids and essential amino acids, which are rich in the correct ratio for human dietary demands. Moreover, cold-pressed hempseed oil has been renowned as a dermatological agent. Hempseed oil's anti-inflammatory qualities are appreciated by the body when it's consumed or applied to the skin. For it's holistic utility, hemp seeds and hempseed oil are essential household staples that should be used everyday.

What The Science Says

Not only will consuming more hemp make your body more resilient, there's increasing scientific evidence that it will keep your mind sharper much longer. Experiments on mice for Alzheimer’s disease found that hempseed extracts conspicuously alleviated learning and memory ability, as well as improved brain tissue.  The neuroprotective effect of hempseeds is due to the complex and diverse chemical constituents of hempseed, including fatty acids and their esters, phenylpropionamides, cannabinoids, steroids and terpenoids, flavonoids and their glycosides, alkaloids and proteins.

Except fatty acids and protein, phenylpropionamides are the most studied and well-reported. Experiments have shown more than 20 kinds of phenylpropionamides have been isolated from hempseed and many of them have good antioxidant and anti-neuroinflammatory activities. One study found that the phenylpropanamide compounds in hempseed have significant anti-neuroinflammatory activities at the cellular level. This neuroprotective function of hempseed makes it worth noting as a functional food (1).

Hemp's Super Amino Acid

Although much more research needs to be done, there is no dispute the hemp seed by-products combat the degenerative effects of aging. A big reason why is the fact can't be disputed because hemp is loaded with the amino acid l-arginine. L-arginine has been carefully studied for improving body function that are debilitated by aging. In summary, l-arginine is involved in the production of enzymes, hormones, and structural proteins. It facilitates the release of growth hormone, insulin, glucagon, and prolactin, as well as, being the physiological precursor of diverse biological compounds such as nitric oxide, polyamines, proline, glutamate, creatine, agmatine and urea (2). Nitric oxide, formed from L-arginine, is essential for homeostasis because it relaxes blood vessels, which may have cardiovascular benefits for some people (3).

As a booster of immunity, arginine stimulates the thymus and promotes lymphocyte production.  Some experts have even claimed that the anti-aging benefits of l-arginine has greater potential than any pharmaceutical or nutraceutical agent ever previously discovered. If this is the case, then hulled hemp seeds, which are 3.5% arginine, are great natural source towards the recommended 2-3 grams taken per day (4).

Hemp For Improved Self-Esteem

Lastly, one of the most important aspect to aging gracefully is how you maintain a positive self-esteem. And since hempseed oil is rich in antioxidants, it has the near magical ability to reverse the effects of the various parameters on the skin that may deteriorate one's impression of themselves. Because of hempseed oil's moisturizing qualities it can visibly reduce wrinkles, skin dullness, and repair skin texture on regular usage. When applied to the skin, it gets absorbed efficiently to provide the oil required by the skin to remain well moisturized. It also acts as a humectant ( a substance that absorbs or helps another substance retains moisture ) as it absorbs moisture from the air to keep the skin hydrated all day. Another way in which hemp seed oil moisturizes the skin is by balancing oil secretion levels. It triggers the right chemicals required to keep a perfect balance of oil levels on the skin to retain its natural luster and smooth texture (5).

For all the reasons and facts detailed above, hemp seeds are a mainstay for getting the most out of life. For those who wish to maintain a fuller lifestyle in their later years, them hemp seeds must be an essential part of your weekly health regiment.
